Latest Job Vacancies with BCT
A full review of the BCT Board of Trustees was recently undertaken to ensure that appropriate skills and experience are represented on the Board and that the charity benefits from good governance. As a result we have Board vacancies for the following unpaid roles, Human Resources Trustee and an Early Years Trustee. These are unpaid voluntary roles. You will be expected to provide a minimum of 8 hours per month to include attending regular board meetings at The Willow Centre in Ashford.
07/02/12 – Trustee (Human Resources)
The key responsibilities of this role are to help oversee the activities of the Charity with relation to HR and specifically to:
• be responsible for communicating HR issues to the board and
• give expert advice to the Business Manager and Chair especially in the event of serious HR issues;
• regularly review HR activity to ensure standards are being met;
• check and update any relevant charity Policies on a regular basis when required;
• monitor, identify and interpret any future HR trends for the Board;
• ensure diversity is represented in all staffing and human resources decisions made by the Charity.
As a Trustee you will work with the rest of the Board to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries, ensure it complies with legal requirements and see that that risks are effectively managed as part of good governance. This should all be achieved within the stated objects and values of the charity. This role requires the following personal specification:
• Experience in Human Resources management at a senior level, preferably CIPD qualified.
• An excellent understanding of good practice in equal opportunities.
• Good people management skills and IT literacy are also essential.
• Must be willing to make an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Criminal Records Bureau.
• Must be able to act as a Company Director under the Companies Act.
• Must be able to provide two personal references.
• Previous charitable experience is desirable but not essential.

07/02/12 – Trustee (Early Years)

• support, assist and challenge senior staff responsible for Early Years delivery;
• regularly review Early Years activity to ensure standards are being met;
• check and update any relevant charity Policies on a regular basis when required;
• monitor, identify and interpret any future Early Years trends for the Board;
• ensure diversity is represented and act as Child Protection designate.
As a Trustee you will work with the rest of the Board to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries, ensure it complies with legal requirements and see that that risks are effectively managed as part of good governance. This should all be achieved within the stated objects and values of the charity. This role requires the following personal specification:
• Qualified Teacher/Early Years Professional with relevant experience of managing an Early Years Setting, or broad experience at Primary School Key Stage 1 level with knowledge and understanding of Early Years Settings and Ofsted requirements, including welfare standards.
• Good people management skills and IT literacy are also essential.
• Must be willing to make an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Criminal Records Bureau and act as Child Protection designate for the setting.
• Must be able to act as a Company Director under the Companies Act.
• Must be able to provide two personal references.
• Previous charitable experience is desirable but not essential.
